_____________________________________________________________________
REFEREES PLEASE BE ADVISED
Please be advised that RMMBHA follows the "mercy rule" where, when one of the teams is ahead by 5 or more goals, the clock will be adjusted to "run time" at the start of the 2nd period.
Once the clock goes to "run time", it will continue running till the end of the game, even if the score becomes less than a five goal difference. The only exception to this rule will be if a team calls a "time out" during the run time.

Please note: The mercy rule applies to all league and playoff games.
Also, goals in excess of 5 are not posted on the scoreboard.

**IMPORTANT**
The Referees are required to check every game sheet for coaches names and ID#'s.
Coaches without ID#'s can be removed from the game by the referee.

CONDUCT BY COACHES, PLAYERS AND PARENTS

There will be zero tolerance for any kind of verbal or physical abuse towards an official, and the officials have been instructed that if this situation arises that their first step is to give a warning, then a game misconduct. These suspensions will not be appeal able.  A clear message needs to be sent out immediately that this behaviour is not tolerated in our league at any level, be it Peanut or Junior.
Thank you for your support and understanding in this matter,

Joseph Cunningham, Referee in Chief

 GAME TIMING
Keep an eye on the time and advise the coaches and timekeepers of any changes that may have to be made to keep the games on schedule.
As the referee you are in charge of how the game is timed and keeping the games on schedule. You will need to advise the timekeepers of how much time to put up for warm-up and half-time. Usually warm-up and half-time are 5 minutes but if the game is running behind you need to adjust those times to 2 minutes or less.
It is your responsibility to keep the games running on time. For a 15 minute half using stopped time it takes about 25 minutes of real time. So, run the first half at stopped time but if the first half runs behind you may have to cut back on the half-time and if necessary you may have to run the clock for part or the entire second half.

GAME TIMING
Division Time Keeping Game Length

Pup 2 – 15 minute halves – stop time  1 Hour Time Slot

REMEMBER …

• NO JEWELLERY / PIERCINGS ALLOWED WHEN OFFICIATING FOR RMMBHA.

• Always arrive 15 minutes prior to the game start time.

• Look ALERT while you are refereeing a game – don’t lean against the boards looking tired or bored and don’t socialize with the players.

• Stay on the floor after the game until the players and coaches have left. Often they like to come and shake your hand or say thank you. (Don’t rush off the floor to sign the Game Sheet).

• Don’t forget to sign the Game Sheet before you give the coaches their copy.

• It is your responsibility to make sure the Referees for the next game are in-place before you leave the arena.

• Refereeing is a job and you are the only one on the floor getting paid!!

• Always keep your Referee Gear with you – you never know when you might be needed!!
