2013 WCC TOURNAMENT -updated information for all players/coaches/parents Each and every year, RMMBHA has continued to support the WCC tournament regardless if it was held in BC or Alberta. Over the years, we have found that when the tournament is held in BC, Alberta continues to send fewer and fewer teams. This has been an ongoing concern with our membership and has become more so over the past couple of years. This year WCMBHA recently announced that the tournament would be held in Medicine Hat, Alberta. We, as an association, decided to randomly canvas out to our membership to find out the response in travelling to Alberta. Our findings found that the majority of members contacted did not have any interest in travelling to Alberta. RMMBHA board members voted unanimously not to send any teams to Medicine Hat, Alberta.Our goal is to reach out to the other local associations and form a committee to start a new and improved tournament to be held in BC only. This does not mean that we don’t travel at all as we can look into different locations in BC to host our tournament. What this means is that we would like to promote ball hockey in other areas of BC and grow the sport in our home province. RMMBHA will be willing to release any player who wants to try-out with another local association and participate in the 2013 WCC tournament. Western Challenge Cup Information

The Western Challenge Cup was founded in 1999 for the reason that there were no National or Western National Championships for minor ball hockey. The WCC was also formed to give “rep” minor ball hockey players a chance to compete against other organizations throughout BC and Alberta at a higher competitive level. Since the start of the WCC, the tournament has been hosted by Edmonton and cities throughout the Lower Mainland. This tournament has grown over the years with a participation expectancy of a minimum 32 teams each year. In 2005 WCC modified division age groups to: 19 & under, 17 & under, 14 & under, 12 & under and 10 & under.

Tryouts are organized for players through the WCC coordinator. If your child(ren) are interested in trying out, please have them fill in an application. Tryout dates will be posted soon! For further information please contact
